The Berlin Brandenburg Airport is an international airport which is under construction and is located 18 km (11 mi) to the south of central Berlin, on the border between the states of Berlin and Brandenburg. It will be named after the former Berlin Mayor and German Chancellor Willy Brandt.
After several delays, it will likely open in October 2013 according to newspapers articles in the beginning of September 2012. The construction costs are estimated at 4.2 billion euros and the new airport will replace three airports in Berlin.
