What does motivate you to work out might setting goals, seeing progress, and even getting in shorts bursts of exercise with things you see all around the house. For example, for easy cardio you can run up and down your stairs. It gets your heart pumping! For strength training resistance you can use towels. For strength training weights cans from the pantry, milk jugs in the fridge, whatever it takes to get a quick 1-2 reps in throughout the day!
Some people have been known to fall into a vicious gym cycle. This means that you only think about your physique and health when you are in a certain environment, i.e. the gym. It’s easy to fall into this trap, after all you’ve gone out of your way to go to the gym for weeks, maybe even months, and everyone else around you is working out too, so it makes it difficult to get distracted from not working up a sweat.
The problem with the gym cycle is that if you only associate working out with the gym, when you take a break from the going-to-the-gym routine whether you mean to or not, you can lose months’ worth of progress just from not being in the right environment!
